Phobias, Fears and HypnosisA phobia is a serious often paralyzing, irrational fear. Some of the most common fears/phobias are listed below:
Phobias are thoughts that have become firmly linked to a negative emotion, fear. The fear creates avoidance behavior, that is, we avoid that which we fear and so never get the opportunity to change our beliefs or confront the reality that there is nothing to fear. Fear is a learned behavior which therefore can be unlearned. Through the process of hypnosis, the hypnotist can help you manage your anxiety with positive suggestions to your subconscious mind thereby eliminating the fear itself. Imagine that the mind is like a forest with lots of undergrowth. As one thought follows another it cuts a path through the undergrowth and the more times a single thought is repeated the clearer the path becomes. In the case of a fear or phobia, the path is not leading us in the right direction. You might think of hypnosis as a bulldozer, which quickly and easily forms a new path through the forest. We can go directly to whatever it is that we fear and create a new link instead to a positive emotion such as calm, confident, relaxed etc. As we reinforce this new link we tread a new path and simultaneously make the old path redundant. Hypnosis is a relaxed, focused state of concentration. You enter into a very dreamy, pleasant state. During this time the mind is very open to visualizations. It is at this point that the hypnotist makes the positive suggestions necessary to help relieve your fears. At Key Hypnosis we will put together a program individually designed to help overcome your phobia. |
